“Captain America’s shield and Iron Man’s gauntlet are taking one step closer to reality. Marvel and Mouser Electronics are launching a new program to inspire and encourage students interested in STEM, and their first project will be to create real-life superhero technology.
“Mythbusters” star Grant Imahara and viral video celebrity Allen Pan will draw inspiration from the Marvel Cinematic Universe for their latest projects. Imahara will attempt to build an Iron Man gauntlet, while Pan sets his sights on Cap’s shield.
While Imahara is best known for his appearances on “Mythbusters,” Pan is the mastermind behind a series of viral videos that marry movie magic and real-life technology; he has created an electromagnet Mjolnir replica using fingerprint technology as well as lightsabers.
“I’m really excited to get into the new Mouser Innovation Lab and start working on these cool devices from the Marvel Cinematic Universe,” Imahara shared. “I’ve seen several of Allen [Pan]’s project videos. I can’t wait to see what we can come up with in the lab.”
“The goal of the Empowering Innovation Together program is to inspire and engage engineers of all ages — from students to millennials to lead engineers,” added Glenn Smith, President and CEO of Mouser Electronics. “During the year we’ll be exploring space tech, pushing the boundaries of drone capabilities and even 3D printing a car.”“
Hey, with the knowledge and resources, anyone can be like Tony Stark!
