Looks Like Fun!
Water powered jet packs give the Iron Man experience to the everyman. But like Lawn Darts, safety folks are cracking down on the fun.
But we’re getting a little ahead of ourselves here- this water powered jet pack idea is fairly new and very innovative. Essentially, a pump pushes water through a pair of hoses attached to a pair of control sticks.
The pilot is strapped in and controls how much water is forced out of the hoses, which allows her/ him to rise into the air in a very “Iron Man” way. A small enclosed boat houses an engine to pump the water and is towed behind the pilot by a tether.
Unfortunately, although there are not many injuries attributed to these water powered jet packs, the safety marshals have stepped in.
This isn’t about human safety though- this is about scaring away the fish, believe it or not.
Some folks in popular vacation spots, where the jet packs have been showing up lately are concerned about damage to the ecosystem and frightening away schools of fish and they’re making their own noise now but through legal channels.
This won’t be an outright ban, however. All in all, it will come down to limiting their use to certain areas to make everyone happy.
Sounds like a bunch of whining to us, but we advocate for Iron Man style fun!
