“VANCOUVER – Twelve-year-old Emily just might be one of Ironman’s biggest fans.
The Houston B.C. resident, who has cerebral palsy, first became obsessed with the charcter about five years ago after seeing the first movie. Emily’s sister, Shay Craig, says her sister used to watch that movie over and over, from the minute she woke up to the minute she went to bed.
“We know about every line from that movie,” laughs Craig.
They then began buying her toys and masks and everything they could find. Emily’s room is filled with Ironman merchandise, every year she gets a new Ironman Halloween costume and for her last birthday she even had a life-size Ironman balloon.
“She’s not a Barbie girl at all, she’s totally an Ironman,” says Craig.
Now she wants to help her sister Emily realize her ultimate dream – to meet Mr. Ironman himself, Robert Downey Jr. “Two years ago we went to the opening of Best Buy in Vancouver and they had someone dressed up as Ironman and Emily went crazy,” says Craig. “She couldn’t even breathe. And he wasn’t even the real Ironman.”
Craig has started the hashtag #IronmanForEmily in the hopes the message will be shared around the world.
“I know it’s going out on such a limb to ask for this but I’ve had so many people from town share it already.”
Craig would like everyone to share Emily’s story, using the hashtag #IronmanForEmily in the hopes her sister’s biggest wish will be granted.
“It would totally make her dream come true,” she says.”
