“LAYTON — Eighty underprivileged kids were treated to a private movie party showing of “Guardians of the Galaxy,” on Saturday, Dec. 20 at Layton’s Tinseltown Cinemark.
Kids in the state’s foster care program, the MDA and Davis County Protective Services got to meet Star Lord and fellow super heroes, Iron Man, Spiderman and others, who also handed out Christmas treats.
The event began with photos taken with the super heroes, followed by the movie.
Kids Heroes Foundation (kidsheroes.org) sponsored the event. The foundation, based in Farmington, is a group of super hero costumers whose mission is to bring cheer and finanacial relief to children facing any type of distress. It was created by local real estate agent Dustin Kasai, whose super hero alias is Tony Stark, aka Iron Man and his Avenger friend Robert Potter, who plays Steve Rogers, aka Captain America.
The foundation focuses on kids who are facing hardship, illness, abuse or the loss of a family member. They also educate and work to end any kind of abuse, neglect and bullying. They work with organizations who help children in need through hospital visits, fundraisers and school events.
