“The rumors were apparently right, Avengers fans: Samsung is indeed considering launching Avengers-based versions of its best smartphones yet, the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 edge.
Samsung on Monday confirmed Iron Man versions of both Galaxy S6 models will be launched as soon as next month, The Korea Times reports.
“The color of the new Iron Man phones will be red. We will decide on other details soon after discussions with Marvel Studio. It will be released either at the end of May or early June,” Samsung’s head of marketing for the mobile division Lee Young-hee said.
An earlier report said soon after the phones were launched in early March that Samsung might indeed consider releasing such special version based on Avengers characters, suggesting that multiple special versions of the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 edge might be launched.
Samsung’s decision isn’t surprising at all considering the company and Marvel inked a global marketing partnership last year. Before that, Samsung’s special trailer versions for Avengers: Age of Ultron revealed the movie will contain plenty of Samsung products, with special emphasis on mobile devices.
It’s not clear in what markets the special Iron Man Galaxy S6 models will launch in initially, but the Galaxy S6 family is selling well according to the company. Samsung’s JK Shin said the phones are “cruising smoothly” when it comes to sales, revealing the company is dealing with supply shortages.

“The second Avengers movie – Age of Ultron – is out and Samsung will be soon launching a special edition of the Galaxy S6 edge to honor it. The limited model was teased on Twitter and will be apparently dedicated to Iron Man.
This isn’t the first collaboration between Samsung and Marvel. Previously we got limited editions Avengers cases with the Galaxy Note 4, while recently Samsung launched cool Avengers TouchWiz themes. We also got some Avengers Galaxy S6 promos last month.
Now it seems Samsung will be bringing the Avengers theme to a whole new level with dedicated editions of its flagships. Hopefully the manufacturer doesn’t stop at Iron Man’s editions, as some of the users out there will surely side with Captain America during the upcoming Captain America: Civil War movie.
The pricing and availability, as the official pictures, of the Samsung Galaxy S6 edge Iron Man edition are yet to be revealed. The stock should be extremely limited, so if you want one, you should start keeping an eye for offers.”
