“Iron Man’s suit in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is seen as cutting-edge form of technology that might one day be possible to realize in real life years down the road. While we’re definitely a long way away from having suits that can function as private jets, one dedicated fan has laid the groundwork toward making a functional Unibeam (the laser that shoots out of Iron Man’s chest).
Patrick Priebe designed a chestplate based on the Iron Man suit seen in Spider-Man: Homecoming complete with the features of a functional Unibeam, which while not as dangerous as its comic book counterpart, can still scorch and outright burn objects. Priebe, speaking to The Wrap, noted that “The lasers are really dangerous, had to test them before [the suit can be considered] wearable. They melt steel sheet. So very close to a real Iron Man Unibeam.”
In the Marvel Comics, the Unibeam can cut through Vibranium, a fictitious metal that is nearly impervious. So while this set of armor wouldn’t likely have that kind of impact, at the very least it looks like you could make something very powerful in the not too distant future.”
